Services
The CAPS program is designed for seniors over the age of 50
years old. The minimum age may be waived if an individual
has special skills that may benefit the Department.
Training of CAPS personnel consist of basic first aid, CPR,
traffic control, safe driving, introduction to law, radio
procedures, gangs, narcotics, crime prevention, and additional
subjects in the criminal justice field.
Uniforms are worn by all CAPS members. The cost is
approximately $125. The uniform cost was previously the responsibility
of the CAPS volunteers, however, it is now completely covered by
the program.
What
are CAPS?
CAPS are volunteers who assist the Police Department with
certain duties in order to provide the citizens of Galt with a
higher quality of police service.
Their duties include such things as routine patrol, vacation
house checks, traffic control, and office duties.
Who are
CAPS volunteers?
Men and women who want to donate their
time in making their community a safer place to live.
People trained by the Galt Police Department to work with law
enforcement.
Neighbors on the lookout for crime and criminals.

Requirements
1. Age 50 and above.
2. Able to volunteer at least 16 hours a
month.
3. Completion of a 40 hour CAPS Academy.
4. The desire to do something about
today's crime problems.
